1. The Returning Veterans' Homestead Exemption provides a one-time, $5,000 reduction in the equalized assessed value the tax year a veteran returns from active duty.
2. The Disabled Veterans' Exemption provides an annual exemption of either $2,500 or $5,000, based on the level of servicerelated disability.
3. The Disabled Persons' Homestead Exemption provides an annual exemption of $2,000, for any property who is disabled and unable to work.

The annual deadline to apply for these exemptions is January 18th, however, due to the late passage of this legislation, the deadline is being waived for 2007. Application forms for these exemptions, as well as information regarding the document needed to apply for them, are available on the internet, at http://www.dupageco.org/soa/index.cfm .
